Debutante Program
For over seventy years the Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has proudly hosted an annual Debutante Ball. The Debutante Ball is the culmination of a year long program for senior high school young ladies with the following goals:

-
To encourage, strengthen and recognize educational, cultural and social development of high school young ladies through workshops, community involvement, the Arts, and a formal Ball,
-
To promote high ethical standards, unity and friendship,
-
To reinforce positive values, ethics and life skills learned from life experiences,
-
To introduce new thoughts and ideas, which prepare the young ladies for assimilation into a diverse society.

In keeping with Alpha Kappa Alpha’s purpose of “cultivation and encouraging high scholastic standards”, the Zeta Omega Chapter has, through the years, provided scholarships and awards to participants in the Debutante Program. Scholarship monies are raised through the solicitation of advertisements from businesses and individuals throughout the community and these ads are placed in the Annual Debutante Souvenir Booklet.
